Last year, 2 board of supervisors in Cochise County fought against the will of the people and refused to certify Arizona’s 2022 elections. However, we protected us and we fought for us. Power is the ability to act. This is a position that will build base and community power and continue to hold people in office accountable through community organizing efforts. This job will organize community members to understand the importance of power, civic engagement, and advocacy work to fight for human rights.
What You'll Do:

Attend, monitor and react to all Cochise County Board of Supervisor meetings and agendas within this scope of work

Build a base of volunteers in Cochise county (2 teams)

Recruit 400 new supporters and 35 paying dues members in the community, schools, events, and neighborhoods
-
Compose correspondence, prepare presentations, reports, and other ad-hoc assignments, such as Google Slide presentations, collection, analysis, and summary of information using Google Sheets or other Google Suite programs.

Timely distributes business communications..

Protect the integrity of confidential information in all matters.

Organize youth and people in Cochise County with a focus on civic engagement, voting, and holding elected officials accountable.

Mobilize individuals to all Board of Supervisor meetings and share testimonies.

Door to door / on site canvassing
-
Work with LUCHA’s Democracy Director to implement program strategy and local wins

Phone bank and call community members / volunteers
-
Coordinate phonebanks and canvassing for quarterly metric goals (membership, voter registration forms, supporters, leaders developed ect)

Maintain an accurate database volunteer involvement and clear next steps

Voter Engagement (support efforts to register new voters to expand the new american majority)

Conduct 150 one to ones new volunteers and local partners

Host democracy events and assemblies to engage people,
-
Coordinate transportation of people to events and Board of Supervisors meetings

Host weekly or biweekly team meetings, facilitate group spaces/ presentations

Assist organizations events to add capacity

Train and mentor team leaders

Implement and lead direct actions against of targets
To succeed in this role, you need:

Ability to take on projects related to organization with minimal oversight.

Ability to have a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail, clearly communicating status updates.

Skilled in reviewing, screening, and prioritizing mail, email, and telephone calls.

Must be proficient in the English language for both grammar and composition purposes and spelling to communicate effectively, to prepare reports, record minutes of meetings, and to compose routine correspondence and other directives.

Ability to work with and adapt to various personalities and all levels of personnel within the organization.

Ability to work remotely and have reliable transportation to
Your earnings and other perks:

$20-$27 an hour depending on experience. Part time
Monday-Friday 2pm-8pm (6 hour shifts). Tuesdays will alter with Cochise County board of supervisors meeting held at 10am. Days of Board of supervisors meetings will require a work schedule from 9:30am-3:30pm and attendance & participation. Schedule may alternate weekends for community events and organizational events.
